San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernicks refusal to stand for the National Anthem has been a controversial statement, to say the very least.
While some have lauded this bold gesture that seeks to throw aspotlight on police brutality and institutionalized racism, many have questioned whether or not members of our armed forces would feel disrespected by his actions.

These military personnel have taken to Twitter to show their support for the QBs actionsas a meansto discuss the national issue of police violence against black citizens.

The one soldier whosaid, I didnt volunteer to defend a country where police brutality is swept under the rug, really got to the heart of this debate.
There are those among us who should spend less time criticizing Kaepernicks sit-down and more time worrying about how black lives are being taken away unjustly and violently.
And if you think that our flags symbol for our military makes his act disrespectful, remember that these military personnel put their lives on the line for our freedom of speech.
